Ease Move In Ready Desires with Staging

November 21, 2016 (posted by Jennifer Campbell, Home Staging Calgary)
Many busy home buyers are looking for move in ready properties these days. After all, they don’t want to spend their limited free time doing renovations. And they may not have the expertise. But the reality is that not all sellers can offer move in ready homes. Staging can help. Here’s how.

Add or subtract: To highlight features that normally would be overlooked. This can be accomplished with strategic furniture placement, accessory choices, and use of colour. Got a great view but an ugly kitchen countertop? Highlight the view, clear off the counters, paint the kitchen neutral, and add modern stools and an updated pendant light at the island. Focus on the experience of being in the room.

After: Adding the white towels and artwork as well as the soap pumps and mini plant make this bathroom feel like a spa.

Create an impression: That life in this home can feel modern, organized, and comfortable despite some dated features. Contemporary staging rental furniture can be extremely helpful in this way.

Livability in the short term: Show the buyers who may desire some changes that they can easily live in the home as-is without immediate updates being necessary. Or, perhaps they can see that updates can selectively be done in stages over time and not feel overwhelmed by the work and expense.

Different buyers have different interpretations of what move in ready means to them. Your job as a seller is to make it as easy as possible for them to get the sense that, even if they don’t love every aspect of your listing, they could live there comfortably and feel at home.

These Real Estate Tools Caught My Eye

November 02, 2016 (posted by Jennifer Campbell, Home Staging Calgary)

It seems like every day more information becomes available through tech online and the use of apps. That includes a whole range of helpful real estate tools too. Here are a few that caught my attention.

As a busy Calgary stager, I don’t spend all that much time online usually. That said, I appreciate how technology can add value in different ways to our daily life and work routines. And when it comes time to buy and sell homes, why not use tech to help make wiser decisions and manage time more efficiently?

In addition to all the property search and financing info available online and through apps, these three real estate tools may be helpful to you in the home buying, selling, and moving process:

Housecreep:
Curious about whether homes that you’re considering buying (or homes in a particular neighbourhood)have a “less than ideal” past? Housecreep is a real estate tool that can help illuminate the story. Start by selecting Calgary as your broad search and then hone in to a neighbourhood view, or enter an exact street address. Common results show grow ops or remediation, but I have also seen references to other criminal activity. Always practice due diligence by checking with your realtor, police, or other reputable source before trusting what you read about properties online.

Sortly:
Moving can be stressful, so the more organized you can be, the smoother it can go. This app offers a moving checklist, labels, photo and video to keep your stuff sorted through the moving process.Outside of your move, it’s also a great tool for inventory.

Virtuo:
Created by fellow Albertans, this concierge service can help on moving day and beyond. And it’s FREE. Check it out.

I’d love to hear what other real estate tools you have found helpful. And, if you are planning to sell your Calgary detached home or condo, I invite you to find out more about our “non-techy” staging services and contact me, Jen Campbell at Set Your Stage, where we get proven results for our clients.

Calgary Staging Testimonials: Set Your Stage

July 09, 2015 (posted by Jennifer Campbell, Home Staging Calgary)

In Calgary, staging testimonials are important tools to help people choose the home stager they want to work with on one of the largest investments of their life. I’m always grateful when my staging clients take the time to share feedback. This satisfied Set Your Stage customer recently posted on our Facebook Page:

“Set your stage is remarkable! We hired them to stage our rental unit for sale in Glamorgan and they went above and beyond! They defined all spaces to their full potential and all in a very timely matter even though I made changes to the dates a few times they made sure it was done and set to go on time. Thank you Jen and team for an amazing job 🙂 would not only recommend them but will use them ourselves in future properties.” Dallas S.

Take a look at the photos of this gorgeous renovated (previously unfurnished) property that we staged in Glamorgan, listed with BDS Properties. It’s a 5 bed, 2 bath bungalow in a family friendly community with a fabulous kitchen and perfect deck for entertaining. It was already a great property but after staging, it definitely has the WOW factor.

While you’re taking a look at the “after” staging photos, check out all the other photos and fun features like Swift Sale and Favourite Friday that we post on the Set Your Stage Facebook page.

Your staging testimonials mean so much to me. Thank you! I really do love my job and I’m proud that it shows in the results I create for my clients!
