Staging A Kitchen

Some simple ways to update a kitchen are: clear the countertops of items used on a daily basis and replace them with “staging” safe accessories like a small plant, fruit or bottled water. Another simple and cheap reno to do in a kitchen is update the lighting.

After: We added lifestyle elements to the kitchen to help the buyer imagine living here.


Staging A Family Room

To lighten up a dark space, add lots of lighting and use light accessories. The furniture was also quite dark, and since reds are impossible to match, a white and gold theme was used in the throw cushions, throw blanket, accessories and artwork. Ideally, the wood paneling would have been painted out, however this wasn’t possible before staging.

After: To make this long layout more functional for modern families, it was split into two areas. This side was designated as the family room. We used white accessories to brighten up the built-in shelving.

Long spaces are always difficult for buyers to plan their layout. In cases like these, try splitting the space into two. For this trick to flow properly, make sure there are two definite spaces.

Staging A Dining Room

If a space feels too dark the best way to brighten it up is to make sure there is lots of lighting. A couple of easy (and inexpensive) ways to modernize a space are: update the lighting fixture, add light slip covers and use mirrors to your advantage. Mirrors reflect light, so if you turn on the lights in the space beside the mirror – let there be light.
