| To lighten up a dark space, add lots of lighting and use light accessories. The furniture was also quite dark, and since reds are impossible to match, a white and gold theme was used in the throw cushions, throw blanket, accessories and artwork. Ideally, the wood paneling would have been painted out, however this wasn’t possible before staging. |
Natural Christmas Decor
A Facebook fan posted a great question on our wall “What are your thoughts on decorating for Christmas when your house is on the market?” My response: “Great question Jenn! Keep everything as “neutral” as possible. Eg. no personal decorations. Trees are dependent on the size of the room as they take up so much space. Buyers always want the most space they can get. If you have lots of room for a tree, decorate it as if it was from a magazine. If you are in doubt on the space I would use a simple seasonal arrangement. Take everything down asap after Christmas including lights.”
Since that post, I’ve come across a beautiful arrangement from the Boston Globe I’d love to share. Check out “Holiday decorating that comes naturally.”
Staging An Office Area
| Long spaces are always difficult for buyers to plan their layout. In cases like these, try splitting the space into two. For this trick to flow properly, make sure there are two definite spaces. |
Painting Your Home Is An Excellent ROI
HomeGain’s Home Sale Maximizer Guide proves the investment on paint is worth it. Adding a fresh coat averages a 250% return on investment (ROI). Always select a light neutral colour to appeal to as many buyers as possible.
