Staging A Dining Room

If a space feels too dark the best way to brighten it up is to make sure there is lots of lighting. A couple of easy (and inexpensive) ways to modernize a space are: update the lighting fixture, add light slip covers and use mirrors to your advantage. Mirrors reflect light, so if you turn on the lights in the space beside the mirror – let there be light.

After: By slip covering the chairs, updating the lighting and changing the direction of the table, younger buyers are able to visualize themselves entertaining in this space.

Staging vs Decorating

Contrary to popular belief, staging is not decorating. Although staging uses decorating principles, it is a marketing tool that appeals to the masses.

Most buyers can’t see past what’s in front of them. In fact 90% of buyers can’t envision a space if it doesn’t reflect their needs. Although there are buyers who would enjoy a sewing room in their home, the majority would prefer a bedroom. You don’t want to lose a sale because you didn’t have that “extra” bedroom they were looking for.
