| We all know, if you want to sell your home you need to advertise it and the most popular search engine for property sales is MLS. In order to access MLS to market your home, you needed to contact a Realtor or Brokerage. However, this has changed now that a settlement between the Competition Bureau and the Canadian Real Estate Association has changed that and now consumers can add their listing on MLS. There are also many For Sale By Owner companies to choose from where you choose a package deal and you sell your home without the any additional selling commissions. |
| There’s no doubt you can save money from commissions if you decide to sell on your own, however there are some key things to take into consideration:
Do you have the time to prepare your home for sale, field phone calls, schedule appointments, showings and cancellations? Do you have patience for no-shows or Lookie Loos? How will you handle feedback on your home from tours? Not everyone will have the same likes and dislikes as you and some are quite vocal about their opinions. Who will you turn to for advice on list price, legal and home staging advice? What if you list too low – will you still be saving money? What about negotiating – how comfortable are you? If these considerations aren’t scaring you off then selling on your own may be an option. There is value in hiring a professional. We are very proud to say we work with some amazing Realtors who go above and beyond for their/our clients. We are also very happy to refer them to anyone buying, selling or just would like some information on the market. If you are looking for some advice, contact us – we’d love to help!
