Prioritize Your To-Do List When Selling Your Home

Especially When Selling Your Home

What is on your to-do list?

We all have a “to-do” lists and sometimes our busy schedules get in the way of checking items off. Home buyers are busy too and they have their own priority list. They don’t want to think of extra work on a house they are considering for purchase. That is why it is so important to prioritize this list when you’ve made the decision to sell your home. The first thing you need to do is see your home from someone else’s point of view.

That squeaky door that you don’t notice, the carpet stains or the dated wall paper will pop out to home buyers. Once you have taken note of everything that needs repairs – get them done promptly. If you are handy and have the time you can save money if you tackle them on your own. If not – contact a local handyman/woman.

The next step is to de-personalize you home. Remember, you are selling your home now – it needs to be marketed to your target buyer. The average home buyer is younger than the average home seller. Keep this in mind when you are pre-packing family photos, collections, religious items.

Now that you’ve completed all of your pre-staging tasks, it’s time to highlight your home’s features. Make sure to draw the eye to fireplaces, views, architectural features or a beautifully landscaped yard. This can easily be achieved by re-arranging furniture, artwork, accessories and greenery.

Need some help with getting started? Contact your local home stager, they would be more than happy to help!
