| Many wonderful memories of love, life and friendship are found at home, however, sometimes the maintenance list is too overwhelming and new, fresh start is exactly what is needed. Having worked at a retirement residence myself, I understand how hard it is for seniors to choose to move. Once you are ready to sell, it’s time to stop thinking of your home as yours and start thinking of it as a property you will be marketing for sale.
Selling homes today is different than it was 10 years ago. Buyers are inundated with photos of the latest stylish homes on the internet, magazines and television shows. Most don’t see past minor changes like paint and personal decor and will choose a home that is move-in ready based on their personal taste. |
So what are some simple tasks you can do to transform your home into this move-in ready home buyers want?
Change can be tough, but it will be worth it when you get to start your new, exciting, stress-free life. |

Staging An Office
| In an office, you want the space to feel comfortable and inviting. If the desk in your office doesn’t seem to flow the way you’d like – try angling it for some interest. Don’t forget to add something to draw your eye to the room’s feature like a window or tall ceiling. |

Functionality vs Design
Kathryn Weber from the Victoria Advocate wrote a great article on shelving Living Space: Open shelves: Designer trend or decorating disaster? It brings up some great points on why you should/should not include open shelves in your home’s design. Coming from a home stager’s perspective, they’re great to have – if the homeowner is willing/able to keep them organized and tidy. Vanant homes are easy to maintain, however a family with young children may struggle to keep show ready.
