Three Steps to a Successfully Staged Bathroom

June 30, 2010 (posted by Jennifer Campbell, Home Staging Calgary)

Before: Bathroom before staging.

A bathroom should always feel soothing and relaxing, just like a spa. What are some very easy tricks to achieving this staged bathroom oasis?

1. Neatly organize your towels. They should be neatly arranged on your towel rack. Some people prefer layering towels, some prefer folding two towels beside each other. Personally I think both are beautiful so choose which one you like best.

2. Add some greenery.

After: This bathroom feels very relaxing.

Nothing freshens up a bathroom like a plant.

3. Keep your shower curtain on the outside of the tub (it looks tidier this way).

Bonus tip: keep the toilet seat down!

Staging A Sunroom

Before: Sunroom before staging.

Although a sunroom isn’t viewed as a key room to stage, re-arranging furniture and editing the room can go a long way. Think of it as another living room or family room.

Make sure the room is as bright as possible and always remember to sell your view. To achieve this remove the curtains and clean the windows. Even if your windows don’t look dirty, clean them regardless, you will be happy with the results.

Before: Dining room before staging.

When staging a dining room, remember less is more. You don’t to display every piece of the set. Make sure everything is neat and organized.

Get creative with centerpieces – sometimes you’ll need to pull something from another room or arrangement.

Flipping in Calgary on the Decline

June 24, 2010 (posted by Jennifer Campbell, Home Staging Calgary)

Marty Hope from the Calgary Herald reports a 12% drop in flippers since 2009. It seems people are looking for long-term investments instead of a quick flip. Check out his article “‘Flippers’ replaced by condo dwellers”.
