Many busy home buyers are looking for move in ready properties these days. After all, they don’t want to spend their limited free time doing renovations. And they may not have the expertise. But the reality is that not all sellers can offer move in ready homes. Staging can help. Here’s how. Add or subtract: To highlight features that normally would be overlooked. This can be accomplished with strategic furniture placement, accessory choices, and use of colour. Got a great view but an ugly kitchen countertop? Highlight the view, clear off the counters, paint the kitchen neutral, and add modern stools and an updated pendant light at the island. Focus on the experience of being in the room. |

Create an impression: That life in this home can feel modern, organized, and comfortable despite some dated features. Contemporary staging rental furniture can be extremely helpful in this way. Livability in the short term: Show the buyers who may desire some changes that they can easily live in the home as-is without immediate updates being necessary. Or, perhaps they can see that updates can selectively be done in stages over time and not feel overwhelmed by the work and expense. |

Different buyers have different interpretations of what move in ready means to them. Your job as a seller is to make it as easy as possible for them to get the sense that, even if they don’t love every aspect of your listing, they could live there comfortably and feel at home. |
