Living space for open concept floor plans have definitely caught on. The shrinking urban home has created an urge for spaciousness, and the open concept floor plan can provide this sense. But a condo that has a lot of open space can feel overwhelming. Prospective buyers can feel like they have walked into an industrial warehouse; nobody wants to live there, except for mice.
Besides, what is the urban dweller to do when their moment of spaciousness-Zen evaporates and it’s time to get down to the business of living? People don’t want to cook dinner in the hallway or eat that dinner in their office space. And no realtor wants a buyer to think that a lot of work is required to carve out functional areas in their new home.
When a home lacks areas that are pre-defined by, oh let’s say walls, it’s up to stagers to suggest them. A simple tactic I use is to work with what’s already in place. The built-in, or galley, kitchen would be the starting point. From here, I define a dining area: usually a carpet under a dining set. Next, I conjure a living area then find a nook that can work as an office. When a client enters this staged condo, they see a home rather than a warehouse!

After: We added healthy and trendy accessories on the very contemporary countertops to tie the living room into the kitchen.

After: This cozy open concept living & dining room is the perfect space for entertaining or relaxing.

After: This open concept living/office space feels organized and spacious – a great place to live and work.

Walk score of 97!!! Close to restaurants, coffee, groceries, shopping, parks, books, pubs, entertaiment and banking.
